Our accommodation is spread across the two boroughs of Islington and Hackney, with particular concentrations in Stoke Newington and the Finsbury Park area.
Tenants live in shared and self-contained accommodation depending on their need or the needs of the organisation.
Rents vary but are affordable to allow people to become employed, and more independent, without the risk getting into arrears.
Every Tenant receives Support as part of their stay at Peter Bedford. Support is tailored to each person. It can be as little as one hour per week or as much as eight hours. Support is personal, practical and emotional as needed. It is provided by skilled housing support workers on a non-residential basis. Support at Peter Bedford is outcomes-focused and tenants set their own goals and aspirations with their housing support worker.
Every tenant is expected to participate at Peter Bedford. All Tenants are expected to take part in one of the many services on offer through our Vocational & Community Services Team. This can include training to gain a qualification or work experience, or taking part in a community-based activity. We also actively support tenants to take part in activities and services outside of Peter Bedford, some of which are run in partnership. The support at Peter Bedford is funded by local authority Supporting People budgets. All Peter Bedford Supported tenants are funded this way. All applicants in the London Borough of Islington are referred by the LB Islington Supporting People department. Applicants in the London Borough of Hackney can be referred by the LB Hackney Supporting People department or any other referral agency.
In Islington, all new tenants are expected to move on to independent housing within 2 years. In Hackney one third of new tenants are expected to move on within 2 years.
