Kickstart Housing Partnership

2021-02-02T16:24:25+00:00

Peter Bedford is part of the Kickstart Housing Partnership led by Clarion Housing Group, the UK’s largest provider of affordable housing. Organisations in the Partnership have secured funding from the Government to create new job placements for 16-24 year olds through the Kickstart programme. Through the programme we will be recruiting two new positions to support us in our work: a New Business Assistant to support in fundraising and marketing, particularly in our use of social media, and a Housing Management Assistant, to expand our support to vulnerable people in sustaining tenancies and achieving long-lasting independence.

Homeless Link Grant

2020-11-26T10:00:34+00:00

We are delighted to be able to announce that we have been awarded a Homeless Link grant. The award of £98,000 will fund an expansion of our work to house and support more disadvantaged people in Hackney and Islington at a time when increasing numbers face possible homelessness due to the pandemic. We hope to be able to use this important grant to assist many more of our tenants to move on to a home and a life of their own, and to make available more of our accommodation to increasing numbers of people in need.

PBHA Coronavirus Food Project

2020-09-23T17:03:04+01:00

Peter Bedford Housing Association is committed to working with the most vulnerable people in our community, an obligation which has taken on increased importance during the coronavirus outbreak. We have a key role to play, not only in preventing and ending homelessness, but in enriching the lives of our tenants and supporting them through this crisis. The pandemic has created specific challenges for many of the people we support, and one way that we have been able to meet these needs is through the establishment of a Food Deliveries Project.   Responding to the fact that many tenants were either having [...]

2020-07-09T15:37:10+01:00

It is with great sadness that Peter Bedford Housing Association (PBHA) has taken the difficult decision to close its social enterprise, Outpost Shop and Gallery on Holloway Road. After 20 successful years of trading in Islington, the housing association is focusing its work, resources and team on the emerging needs of socially excluded adults resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic. We are immensely proud that Outpost has successfully achieved its purpose and aims  providing inspiring learning opportunities and support for over 500 socially excluded adults, curating over 30 exhibitions and welcoming over 20,000 visitors in the last 5 years alone to the [...]

Pride 2020

2020-07-02T18:15:25+01:00

PBHA has proudly celebrated Pride for the past 22 years and this year is no different! Ordinarily, we throw a tenant-initiated festival to mark the occasion in our calendars. This summer, we could not get together in the same way, but that didn’t stop us from singing, dancing and laughing together on Zoom. Events were split over three days and included Fun & Games, Film Club and a Talent Show.   Highlights included: Pictionary (for the most rubbish drawing), an LGBTQ+ Quiz, Fifty years of Pride (short film), Guess the Song, and a Flamenco lesson!     Pride is an opportunity for [...]

Peter Bedford Housing Association’s response to the Coronavirus outbreak

2020-03-17T18:45:29+00:00

Our intention is to minimise the impact of the escalating situation as much as possible. Inevitably, the situation will worsen in the coming weeks as the virus spreads across the country, causing widespread disruption and it will undoubtedly impact our services. We will make adjustments over the coming weeks and months, but the safety of our residents and staff remains our top priority. Yesterday, the Government advised how to reduce COVID-19 transmission. Here are the steps we are taking to protect everyone in this ever-evolving situation: With effect from Wednesday 18th March we are closing our hubs at Clissold and Isledon. Kingsland [...]

Clare’s Comments on the 2020 Budget

2020-03-13T10:35:35+00:00

We are very pleased to see a commitment to establishing a significant Building Safety Fund to remove unsafe materials from tall buildings. The broad commitment to remove “unsafe” materials is very welcome as this will remove some uncertainty where materials other than ACM pose a fire risk. Yet, how materials are removed from complex buildings which are not tall remains a question, as does whether there is any funding for interim remedial measures. The £500 million hardship fund for local councils to support the most vulnerable in their areas affected by COVID-19 is a very good idea, and we hope an [...]
